anglers are blessed with a short run to the deep blue waters
off Louisiana's coast.
The
muddy Mississippi has pushed Louisiana's coast line far into
the Gulf and it's only a short run out of South and South West
Pass to deep water. Just 11 miles out of South Pass and you'll
be fishing in 1100 feet of water.
 The
conflicting currents created by the flow of the Mississippi collide
with the loop currents circulating in the Gulf. Marlin fisherman
will be dragging their bait at times as close as 7 miles out
of the passes and sometimes, Tuna will be as close as
4 miles out. Normally within 10 to 30 miles out you'll find beautifull
riptides loaded with floating grass beds that hold great quantities
of Dolphin, Wahoo, Tuna and Marlin.
Blue
water fishing is a year round adventure in the Venice area but
certain species will be seasonal. We'll tell you when's the best
time to fish for the species you're after.
